Instructor's Biographies





Jeremy "Judo" High started judo as a teen in the Virgin Islands. He has been with the Johnson City Judo Club for nearly 3 decades and holds the rank of 1st Dan. He also enjoys Brazilian Ju Jitsu. He commutes from Newport Tennessee to teach in Johnson City.




Keith Ladd has been with the Johnson City Judo Club for 15 years and holds the rank of 1st Dan. He also is a 2nd Dan in Brazilian Ju Jitsu.




Belicza Laszlo started judo in 1972 in his native Hungary, where he achieved 2nd Dan, and trained a number of champion players there. He has been with the Johnson City Judo Club for nearly 2 decades.


Brian Rowe trained in his native England and took gold and silver medals in the British Collegiate Championships in 1976-7, and a first in the trials for the World Student Games in 1977.  He was past president of Tennessee Judo Inc,  a member of the state Promotion Board, and chair of the referee certification sub-committee.  He is certified as a national referee (USJI) and a national rank examiner (USJA).   He has been teaching judo in Johnson City since 1981. Brian is currently 7th Dan.

Bill Perkins started judo in 1969 at age 14 in Greensboro, North Carolina. He studied under Claude Chauvinge, Roger Rudolf (Greensboro), Andy Holt (Durham), and Hank Okamura (Chicago). He was twice North Carolina State Champion in the 172 lb. division. He has studied and taught in Greensboro, Durham, Raleigh, Chicago, and Wissembourg, France. He has been teaching judo in Johnson City since 1982. He is currently 2nd Dan. He also studies aikido and teaches self-defense for women.
